WHAT TO INCLUDE ON YOUR WEDDING WEBSITE

In the digital age, a wedding website is not just a convenient tool; it's a canvas where you can paint the story of your love and share crucial details with your guests. From RSVPs to travel information, your wedding website is a central hub for all things related to your big day. You really cannot go wrong with what you choose to share but including the important details can help your guests have a seamless experience! Creating your wedding website is a task you can add to here and there as you have time from the comfort of your home. Here are some items you can include in your wedding website:

  1. Love Story: Begin by sharing the story of how you and your partner met, fell in love, and decided to tie the knot. This personal touch allows guests to connect with the journey that brought you to this significant moment. If I am being honest, we did not include this portion on our site (because it felt like one more thing on my already lengthy to-do list) and that is okay too! We did include engagement photos, and tied in a story of our Europe engagement trip to our welcome bag inserts instead.

  2. Event Details: Clearly outline the key details of your wedding events on the home page – date, time, and location. Include separate sections for the ceremony and reception, providing specific addresses and any additional venue-related information. This will be the spot your guests quickly reference on the wedding weekend.

3. RSVP and Guest Information: Simplify the RSVP process by including an online form on your website. We did not use mail-in RSVP cards, but rather included a QR code RSVP that guided them to our website. This helped us save on the stationery and postage cost. Collect essential information such as the number of attendees and dietary preferences. We also added a spot for guests to add songs that would get them on the dance floor so we could add them to our playlist!

4. Accommodation Details: If your wedding involves out-of-town guests, help them plan their stay by listing recommended hotels, along with any negotiated room blocks or special rates. Include information about transportation options between the hotel and venue.

5. Travel Information: For destination weddings or celebrations in less familiar locales, offer travel tips and guidance. Include details on airports, local transportation, and any unique aspects of the area that guests should be aware of.

6. Things to Do: This was a category of our website I really had fun creating! Most of our guests were traveling from out-of-state and our wedding took place on a holiday weekend, so I wanted to highlight all the best restaurants and things to do in the area. With each suggestion, I included a brief description, address, and how far away it was from each of the hotel suggestions.

7. Registry Links: While it's considered a bit of a taboo to include registry information on invitations, your website is the perfect place to share those details. Include direct links to your registries for the convenience of your guests. We utilized the Knot for our website which perfectly integrated with our registries at Crate & Barrel, Target, Amazon, and Pottery Barn.

8. Wedding Party: Introduce your wedding party - you can choose to just list names, include short bios, or display fun anecdotes or memories. It not only adds a personal touch but also helps guests get to know the people standing by your side on this special day. It can be nice to also include the names of your parents, and flower girl(s) and ring bearer(s).

9. Dress Code and Weather Guidance: Provide clarity on your expected dress code for your wedding events and, if applicable, any weather-related considerations such as if any portion of the event is outside. This helps guests plan their attire accordingly, ensuring everyone is comfortable. The FAQ section, or a tag below the event description is a great place to highlight these details.

10. FAQ Section: Anticipate common questions and create a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. Cover topics like parking details, childcare options, and any other queries you anticipate your guests may have. See below for common questions and response examples.

Your wedding website is more than just a logistical tool; it's an extension of your love story and a valuable resource for your guests. By incorporating these elements, you'll create a comprehensive and user-friendly space that enhances the overall experience for everyone involved.
