The cost of wedding stationery can add up fast! In this blog post I will discuss how you can save money on your save the dates while still getting the custom look you want. You may think that the word custom would equate to more expensive, but there are many programs and companies that will allow you to create your own stationery for a fraction of the cost. So if you are looking to save some money with inexpensive stationery I will show you how! By now, you have probably noticed that products and services that are targeted towards weddings are automatically more expensive. For example, an occasion bouquet in a vase may be $39.99 on a regular day but that same bouquet in a vase could be upwards of $100. It can be the same with stationery. Many of the mainstream invitation companies may also be charging more just because it is for a wedding. Keeping this in mind below are some companies you can go through to get the look you want for less.

Personally, I created and printed my double-sided custom save-the-date cards on Canva and was able to use a coupon to get 100 cards for $66.00 which was a lot less than the quotes I received from other companies. I ordered pre-addressed envelopes through the Knot to save time.

Keep in mind when budgeting for stationery, you will also need to pay for postage. Between save the dates, invitations, and thank yous the cost can add up quickly!

  1. Canva

Canva is a free online program that allows you to create your own designs or browse hundreds of designs by creators for many different projects. I used Canva SO MUCH throughout my wedding planning process. Additionally, there is a subscription-based “pro” version that unlocks additional fonts, elements, and features but is it very doable to create all your stationery with the free version. The cost of creating the design you want is free, and you can export the design as a PNG file to have printed anywhere! This is where you can shop around for the best price based on who is having the best sales- whether it is a local print shop, Walgreens, Zazzle, or directly through Canva. If you are not comfortable with creating the design yourself, I have created templates you can use to input your customizations into!

2. Zazzle

If you want more options for pre-designed templates, Zazzle is a great place to look! They have hundreds of designs to choose from, or you can upload your own design. I found Zazzle’s prices very reasonable and used them to create large signage, invitations, programs, and even tote bags for the bridesmaids! One great perk is you can order 1 single copy as a sample before ordering your entire set of invitations or save the dates. They also have a 100% money-back guarantee so if things change or you are unhappy with your order they will reimburse you. I also received a “50% off coupon and free shipping on your next order” card with every order, so I was able to save by using those too. Below are some examples of save-the-date designs offered on Zazzle.
